NTT East To Provide Local Content To iFrame Tablet
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Nippon Telegraph & Telephone East Corp. said Wednesday that it will start on Nov. 25 a service delivering recipes, shopping guides and other local content to its forthcoming Hikari iFrame tablet computer.




Hikari iFrame owners will be able to think locally with special discounts at supermarkets.

The Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (9432) unit will first make 50 applications from 33 companies available in its own app store, targeting subscribers to NTT East fiber-optic service. The monthly fee will be 210 yen.
Hikari iFrame owners will have wireless access to the apps. Content available through the service will include special discounts at supermarkets and announcements by localities.
Featuring a 7-inch LCD screen and powered by Google Inc.'s Android operating system, the Hikari iFrame will start at 24,150 yen and also be rentable for 315 yen a month. NTT East's initial sales target is 100,000 units.
